The Knee and Chiropractic

The knee is a complex joint that can be the cause of injuries both from external forces and overuse. Chiropractic techniques such as myofascial release are often very helpfull in certain conditions of the knee especially tendinitis related conditions (such as quadriceps tendinitis or IT Band tendinitis).
One interesting feature of the knee is that the knee has ligaments within the knee. The joint also contains menisci which are fibrocaritlage pads that cushion and stabilize the knee. The medial meniscus is attached to the ligaments on the middle of the knee. An injury to the medial meniscus often produces pain on the midline joint of the knee. The medial collateral ligament may also be sprained (also known and MCL sprain).
The ligaments of the knee, menisci, and contours of the bones are important structural stabilizers of the knee. The muscles provide the dynamic support of the knee through complex motions and activities.
